The birthday invitations are coming fast and furious these days. I guess that's what happens when friends are made at school. This past weekend, we went to a party at Ruby's tumbling in Alameda. There was swinging, tumbling and a pinata. Maddy was happy.
That's Maddy there swinging like a monkey.
Yes, I know it's blurry, but it's the best my camera phone will do with a swinging monkey.
Pinata time!
Goody bags fell out of the pinata and Maddy snatched one up!

habitot
Maddy loves Habitot. All week, actually all the time, she asks to go there. She calls it "painting" because Habitot has a huge painting board that kids can go to town on; when she was small, the only way she could think to describe it was "painting." We were the first ones there so we had the run of the place, but it soon filled up because it was a rainy day.

parent observation
Daddy and I went to Maddy's school for parent observation to check out what Maddy does there all day long. During our 40 minute stay, Maddy put together a gigantic puzzle and glued together a cherry blossom tree from construction paper. She also showed us a practical life activity where she had a tub of water and several objects. She called it "float or not float." She had to separate out the objects that she thought would float or not float and then test out her predictions in the tub of water. Whew! That's a whole lotta hard work!

belated birthday celebration
About two weeks after Maddy's birthday, we went to San Francisco to visit Scott and Barbara. They wanted to celebrate Maddy's birthday so that's what we did. First, Maddy eagerly helped out in the kitchen; she wanted to make the salad. While waiting for dinner, Scott entertained Maddy with the iPad and a farting dog. After dinner, we sang "happy birthday" to Maddy and ate chocolate cake and ice cream.
